The Boyne Area Harvest Festival is returning to Boyne City’s downtown with music, crafts and fall produce again this year. The annual event is being held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3, and is being jointly organized by Boyne City Main Street and the Boyne Area Chamber.

The 100 and 200 blocks of Water Street will again be closed to traffic during the festival to make room for more than 30 arts and craft vendors and produce vendors. A portion of Lake Street will also be closed for the festival. The Harvest Festival also includes music, children’s games and inflatable bounces, face painting and a scarecrow-making contest for residents and businesses.

Folk art demonstrations and displays include quilting, felting, spinning, crocheting, tatting and bobbin weaving. Hay rides will also be offered.  A farm market will be selling a wide variety of apples and other fall harvest items including pumpkins, squash, apple butter, jam, honey and cider.

The festival runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Trapeze Demonstration Show:
Come see our Trapeze professionals show you some of their skills on the flying trapeze.  They will soar through the air with the greatest of ease without the use of safety lines. You can see them execute a variety of tricks while swinging 30ft in the air.  As they catch each other and return back to the platform you will be amazed at the aerial acrobatics performed right in front of your eyes.  This 10 minute demonstration show is complimentary for all ages.

Back by popular demand, instructor Marilynn Smith, a master mycologist will teach this year’s Fall Fungi Course.  Marilynn has traveled the world studying fungi and is an expert in Michigan mushrooms. She will share her knowledge with beginners and provide an interesting challenge for the experienced participant.  The sessions will be held at Boyne Highlands Resort, the first three Wednesdays in September.  Classroom sessions will begin on the first Wednesday in September and then follow for the next two Wednesdays, plus a foraging field trip each weekend.

Boyne Highlands Resort to Boyne Mountain Resort

Annual 2009 “End of the Season” Halloween Bash with The Jelly Roll Blues Band

It’s never too early to start thinking about your costume for Northern Michigan’s liveliest and most gruesome Halloween celebration. Sunday October 18, 2009 marks the official end of Legs Inn’s 2009 season. Plan to come out and celebrate one last time with friends, coworkers, ghouls and goblins as we close out the 2009 season with Northern Michigan’s favorite live music act The Jelly Roll Blues Band.

Many Trout Creek staff members have been out hunting for the elusive delicacy of Morel Mushrooms and have reported that it is a good year so far. We have found many of the white & black Morels! The season will continue for a bit so come on up to Trout Creek and give it a go.
